Zenith Pure Oil increases production in TAL block, Pakistan

Budapest, 2nd December 2016 – Today, Zenith Pure Oil announces the successful tie-in of its Mardan Khel-1 exploration well at the Zenith Pure Oil operated TAL Block in Pakistan, bringing the block’s total production to nearly 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent.
Zenith Pure Oil announced the discovery from the exploration well Mardan Khel-1 back in May 2015. The exploration well was drilled in TAL Block, located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. With the successful tie-in of the exploration well, the block’s production grows by approximately 10,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd).
As the operating shareholder of the TAL Block, with the tie-in of the Mardan Khel-1 well Zenith Pure Oil is currently responsible for nearly 90,000 boepd gross production (Zenith Pure Oil’s share is 8.4%). Our partners in the joint venture consortium are OGDC, PPL, POL and GHPL. Mardan Khel-2 and Mardan Khel-3 appraisal wells were spudded, and the drilling is ongoing in line with plan.

Technical details of the discovery:
The Halini-Deep-1 discovery constitutes as the third consequent discovery in the block following two previous successes (Halini-X-1 in 2011 and Kalabagh-1A in 2015). The Halini-Deep-1 well was drilled to a depth of 5,900 metres. Subsequent to the drill-stem test, a new, deeper reservoir (Samana Suk) was added to the already known higher reservoirs (Lumshiwal, Hangu, Lockhart). The completion integrity test has been conducted with flow rates of 1,425 bopd oil and 1.18 mmscf/day gas (~200 boepd). Operator expects first oil by end of H1.
